Lets learn how to cut and paste images.
Instructions
Step 1
Open your pictures and size using the crop tool.
Step 2
Open the patterned paper you want as your layout base. I used Birthday To You.
Step 3
Now we're going to add circle shapes out of other patterned papers in the birthday kit. Open four different patterned papers.
Step 4
Next select the Elliptical Marquee Tool.
Step 5
Now go to the menu bar at the top and choose fixed size. Enter 2.5 x 2.5 inches. Go to your patterned paper and click. You will see a circle shape selection. You can move your selection to the part of the paper you want to use. Go to File, Edit, Copy.
Step 6
Return to your layout base and choose Edit - Paste. Repeat these steps to create four circles.
Step 7
In your layers pallet, click once on the layer of your first circle shape. The layer should turn blue to show that it's active. At the bottom of your layers pallet is a small button with an "fx" on it. Click once on this and select "Drop Shadow" from the options that appear. A window will pop up. You can adjust the settings to change the appearance of your drop shadow and then click OK.
Step 8
Next we are going to mat one of our photos. Go to your layers palette and select the layer of your photo. Hold down the command (apple) key. When you move your cursor over the layer thumbnail you'll notice that it changes to represent a marquee. Click once on the layer thumbnail to select the contents of the layer.
Step 9
When your cursor is over the selection, it will change into a white arrow. This means you can move that selection around. Click and drag the marquee shape from that window into the window with the red patterned paper. Position it to select the area of the paper you want for your mat.
Step 10
Once your selection is on your red patterned paper go to the Select menu > Modify > Expand. Choose to expand about 20 pixels and click OK.
Step 11
Go to the Edit menu > copy (Command + C).
Step 12
Return to your layout. Go to Edit > Paste (command+V). Use the shortcut Command+ { to move the red layer below your Photo layer. This will put it behind your picture.
Step 13
Finish your layout by adding journaling and a frame. To add journaling choose your text tool and click and drag to make a text box. Type your text. Ctrl Click (right click on PC) over your finished text and choose Spell Check.
Step 14
Add a frame and ribbons by selecting, copying (command+c), and pasting (command+v) the frame and ribbons included in the Birthday Digital Kit. Use your lasso tool to select and delete any parts that you don't want.Comments
